An expert in child abuse, sex assaults and homicide prosecutions, Charles Gerlach serves as a consultant and faculty member at Vera Causa Group.
Since 2019, Charles has been a Senior Assistant Stearns County Attorney working in Central Minnesota. He began his career in Hennepin County, Minnesota, the state’s largest county, and served there for over 20 years. Charles worked in juvenile prosecution for 10 years before moving to the violent crimes division. There he specialized in domestic assault, child abuse, vulnerable adult cases, as well as other serious felonies.
Charles serves as adjunct faculty at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, MN. In 2006 Charles was invited to participate in the National District Attorneys Association Faculty Development course. He helped create the Minnesota County Attorney’s Association’s Trial Advocacy course, including a faculty development program to ‘train-the-trainer.’ Charles taught at the MCAA’s trial advocacy course for 15 years and now serves as course chair. He is an advisory member of the Minnesota Sex Crimes Investigators Association and presents at their bi-annual trainings. He also serves on the Minnesota Hockey Recreation League board of directors as Vice President of Operations.
After graduating from Alma College, Charles did graduate level work at Wayne State University and Charles graduated from William Mitchell College of Law.
