"I feel stress all the time. That is my job.”
— Elected Prosecutor
NDAA/VCG Partnership
First Term Leader Course
June 6-7, 2022
Washington, DC
Being an elected or appointed prosecutor is challenging—now more than ever. Being relatively new to the position makes this tough job even more daunting.

Fear not – NDAA and Vera Causa Group have your back! We can help you navigate around and avoid the unseen landmines that can damage your ability to achieve your vision for your office. Drawing from the successful and not-so-successful experiences of first-term elected and appointed prosecutors, this course will provide a road map that will help you successfully revamp your office culture to align with your vision, create or maintain high employee morale, recruit and retain top performers, leverage (rather than fear) the media and effectively executive the vision you were elected or appointed to pursue. You will hear from expert instructors and from actual first term prosecution leaders who are setting new standards for success. Some of the topics included are:

-
Avoiding the top ten things newly elected/appointed prosecutors do to get in their own way.
-
Successfully transitioning from defense attorney to lead prosecutor without blowing yourself up.
-
Establishing an organizational culture and set of values as the bedrock of your success.
-
Executing your vision through effective management techniques.
-
Developing a performance management process that works for you.
-
Learning what really drives employee job satisfaction (spoiler alert – it’s not money.)
-
Brainstorming strategies to bust through the COVID backlog.
-
Leveraging the media to engage with your community.
-
Navigating ethical issues in the first term.

It's 2022 and things have changed drastically. The public has higher expectations of prosecutors and members of the criminal justice community than ever before. With calls for massive reforms, transparency, and greater accountability we must not only be excellent lawyers and public servants, we must now be master communicators as well. Few prosecutors are technically or professionally trained to handle every day or even high-intensity communication.
NDAA and Vera Causa Group to the rescue! This course is designed to help prosecutors and their staff meet the modern demands for transparency within the bounds of their ethical obligations. Whether your office is large or small, you will learn practical and accessible tips for leveling up your communication. Just as importantly, you will learn how to avoid common communication land mines. Because nobody has time for that! Traditional media, website and social media, and community outreach strategies will be discussed.
