Susan D. Boresi

Susan D. Boresi is a faculty member at Vera Causa Group, bringing exceptional prosecutorial expertise from her distinguished 42-year career in criminal law. As Chief Counsel of the Public Safety Division for the Missouri Attorney General's Office, she supervised a team of prosecutors assisting local elected officials with the state's most complex prosecutions, while developing specialized expertise in cases involving crimes against children, including abuse, neglect, sexual assault, and homicide.

Susan's leadership in legal education has been transformative throughout her career. As an inaugural faculty member of the Missouri Attorney General Trial College, she developed comprehensive training curriculum and provided trial skills instruction to every Assistant Attorney General in Missouri. Her commitment to professional development extends through extensive training programs delivered to law enforcement agencies and fellow prosecutors across the state, as well as her role as Adjunct Professor at St. Louis University teaching trial skills.

Her prosecutorial career spans diverse roles from Assistant State's Attorney in Jersey County, Illinois, to Assistant Public Defender in St. Louis, followed by private practice at Riezman & Blitz where she served as Special Assistant Attorney General. During her 24 years with the Missouri Attorney General's Office, she became recognized for her expertise in prosecuting inflicted brain injury cases in children and provided critical support to the Habeas Unit in defending against actual innocence claims.

After retiring from the Attorney General's Office in 2017, Susan continued her prosecutorial work as senior Assistant Prosecutor and First Assistant in Boone County, Missouri, where she led the Violent Crimes Unit with a personal caseload focused on homicide prosecutions until joining Vera Causa Group in June 2025.

Susan graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts and received her Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University.
