Prosecutors’ Offices/Law Enforcement/
Government Agencies Courses
What makes a good leader? Many things we’ve been taught about “good” leadership aren’t true. Worse yet – many popular leadership styles can do more harm than good. This course explores what makes a good leader and what behaviors guarantee that you will be a bad leader. We start by looking at the current state of the criminal justice system and the
critical importance of effective leadership. We closely examine the functions of managers and leaders, how they differ, and how to give employees what they REALLY want (spoiler alert: it’s not more money). We will discuss common management styles and help attendees identify their ideal leadership style.
In this dynamic course, participants discover evidence-based strategies for creating a genuinely motivating work environment that drives engagement and results. Moving beyond traditional carrot-and-stick approaches, leaders will learn how to tap into their team members' intrinsic motivators through meaningful goal setting, growth-oriented
feedback, and purposeful recognition. By the end of the session, leaders will walk away with practical tools to align personal and organizational purposes, foster professional development, inspire career growth, and cultivate a culture where employees feel genuinely inspired to bring their best selves to work every day.
Have you noticed it? As more generations enter the workplace, our ability to communicate and get along decreases. Workplaces nationwide struggle to promote teamwork and increase performance and understanding across generations. Vera Causa Group will give you the tools to turn generational frustration into a smooth-running machine. We will help your team understand the perspectives and opportunities that each generation presents to the workplace and provide ideas and solutions for working more collaboratively despite age differences.
People are different—and that’s a good thing. The strongest organizations leverage multiple perspectives to get work done. However, different personality styles can create organizational turmoil if team members don’t understand and value the differing styles of others. This training is designed to help people understand the different personality styles in the workplace. It gives tips and advice on how to work successfully and inclusively with others. Many managers have found this training transformative.
This course is designed to help individuals build greater effectiveness in their organizations and personal style. People learn interpersonal communication skills that enable them to relate better with people at work and home. Areas of focus include Noble Intent, Generous Listening, 100% Responsibility, and Telling the Truth. These skills can help people avoid conflict, inspire others, and achieve results through others. This involves role play and will also include additional training on personality traits.
Most of us like to compliment, but many managers would rather donate a kidney than provide constructive feedback to a struggling team member. Yet, when constructive feedback is provided on an ongoing basis, lines of communication are open, employees become more productive and creative contributors, and managers achieve their goals quickly and easily. This session helps managers give the type of feedback that can enhance both individual and organizational performance. We will focus on providing feedback to individuals from various generations to appeal to the aspirations most important to them. We will also conduct role play to practice the techniques of giving feedback in real-life situations from the prosecuting attorney’s offices.
Performance reviews should be something to look forward to, not dread. Vera Causa Group will create a customized training centered around your performance management process to help your managers utilize the tools available to motivate employees, focus on professional development, hold people accountable, and achieve top performance. We will work with your managers to help reduce the time obligations and anxiety performance management processes can create. We will help them improve their feedback skills to have more meaningful performance conversations throughout the year.
Performance problems happen in every organization and learning to handle these issues effectively is one of the most important things managers do. However, for various reasons, the conversations and documentation required to address problem employees are often not implemented in a way that protects both the office and the employee. This course takes a step-by-step approach to managing an employee’s performance to improve performance or prepare the employee to leave the organization (either voluntarily or due to termination).
In this dynamic course, we will scenario plan to address the common types of issues that arise in prosecutors’ offices. Participants are also encouraged to bring their real-time issues for ideas on successfully managing them. This is one of the most popular courses we offer.
Strong teams are essential and challenging to maintain when workloads are high and the time to build relationships is low. Believe it or not – well trained supervisors can make all the difference in the effectiveness of teams in your organization. Managers have the most influence on how well their teams work together and trust each other. VCG will teach managers how to create and maintain effective teams by supporting professional relationships and establishing a positive, open-minded team culture. Attendees will learn ways to motivate their teams to work together with less conflict and more fun while striving for top performance.
Government and law enforcement agencies nationwide are struggling to attract and retain top talent. Maintaining strong morale and engagement are a critical components of effective leadership. leadership understand why people stay and why they search for opportunities elsewhere. We will provide a road map to help leaders successfully revamp the office culture to align with their vision, create or maintain high employee morale, and recruit and retain top performers.

What can prosecutors do? It’s hard to imagine an issue more pressing in America today than racial justice and equity. Many of America’s prosecutors live in communities where the issue of racial justice is in the forefront. Many have heard the voices in their community calling for change yet wonder what they can do to promote racial equity beyond the actions they are already taking to ensure a just society for everyone. This lecture will discuss the origins of racial injustice in America. Our goal is that attendees leave with the mindset of an “anti-racist prosecutor,” knowing what they can do to help dismantle systemic racism
in America and mitigate its effects.
Prosecutors are leaders in our criminal justice system, and it’s time they lead the effort for meaningful change. Vera Causa Group instructors will provide high-impact strategies to promote racial equity inside and outside the office. You will have the opportunity to brainstorm with your colleagues on how to best implement strategies for diversity and inclusion.
Have you ever dreaded the prospect of discussing race with colleagues or with community members? Many are apprehensive about having these discussions because they are terrified of saying the wrong thing and making matters worse. In reality, silence promotes racial inequity and mistrust. We must learn how to have frank discussions constructively if we are to move the needle on racial injustice in America. Participants will learn helpful guidelines for having these conversations open, respectful, and productive. In addition, attendees can practice these skills in meaningful discussions with their colleagues.
